Lean is a word that has been misrepresented through the years. It has been linked to failed business transformations, or at least consultant's attempts in implementing Pilot lines, trial schemes and quick improvement events. All these are isolated improvements and so are without a doubt, unsustainable over the medium and long term. As soon as the word Lean is spoken, the barriers go up, Been there, tried that says a wealth of managers. Direct and indirect team alike, immediately think of redundancies and cost cutting, all in all not delivering the correct culture and attitude to promote lasting change.
